A Note From Lindsay
To My Dear Customers, Followers and Cheerleaders,
After much thought and with a bit of a heavy heart, I am announcing I have made the difficult decision to close the Sweet Petites KC storefront. When I hung my sign for the first time a little over five years ago, I had no idea what the future would hold. What started as a self-taught hobby in my home kitchen quickly turned into a full-fledged, brick and mortar, profitable, and BUSY operation. While I am proud of what I've created with Sweet Petites, I have not been immune to the difficulties of running a small business, both as a busy wife and mother of three and a business owner fighting a town that seems, at times, determined to create barriers that prevent small businesses from thriving. If I am honest with myself, and all of you, the difficulties of our location have simply begun to outweigh the joy and happiness the shop once brought me and my heart is telling me it is time for the next era.
At one time, I loved our unique location nestled in the River Market, but that too has changed. The safety and convenience of my staff and our amazing customers has always been a top priority, but unfortunately, I can no longer guarantee a safe and efficient visit to our store. The complete lack of security combined with an untenable parking arrangement in the River Market has created an environment that I no longer feel is appropriate for employees or customers.
Most of all, to my cherished supporters and customers, I want to say thank you. THANK YOU for believing in me, supporting me, and cheering me on along the way. It has been a true blessing to be a small part of all the amazing life events that our treats have made their way into. I will deeply miss the birthday parties, graduations, weddings, holiday parties, bachelorette parties and events that have allowed me to not only continue growing but spread my creative wings as well. And, It was getting to know all of you, that truly made this a lifechanging experience.
While this is the end of our River Market era, it isn’t the end of my journey, but the start of an exciting new chapter! I plan to continue building my presence online and hope you will all continue the journey with me as I continue sharing recipes, dessert tips/tricks and a even a little bit more of me as a person.
If you have time, I would love to see you as I close out my last week in the bakery!
With love, a little sadness and a lot of excitement,
Lindsay
