Rice Krispie Treats Recipe
You might think that because I’m a baker my friends would request decorated sugar cookies or cupcakes or a cookie cake when we get together. Nope. The thing I am most often asked to bring - Rice Krispie Treats! I promise. I really do nothing different, but my friends (and their kids!) swear that mine are better. My opinion about why mine are a hit…I don’t pat them down in the pan. I prefer my Rice Krispie treats fluffy. So, I lightly spread them out with a silicone spatula and leave them to “fluff” for a few hours before cutting and serving.
My kids love to help with these and they obviously can because they are so easy to make! When we’re celebrating we often add sprinkles, too. To really kick it up a notch we use little cookie cutters to cut out cute shapes. I was asked to bring them to a Super Bowl watch party so I think I’m going to go really fancy and cut out little football shapes and dip in chocolate…it is the Super Bowl, after all!
What You Need:
5 Tbsp unsalted butter
6 cups (10 oz. bag) Jetpuffed mini marshmallows
8 cups Rice Krispie cereal
How To:
In a large saucepan, melt the butter then add the mini marshmallows.
Stir until the butter and marshmallows are completely incorporated and smooth.
Remove from heat and add the Rice Krispies.
Pour into a greased* jelly roll pan and lightly spread with a silicone spatula.
I always spray my pans and spatulas with Wilton Bake Easy non-stick spray. It works like a dream!
Note: I like my Rice Krispie Treats fluffy so I don’t pat them down in the pan. I lightly spread them out and leave them to fluff.
Let sit, uncovered, for a few hours.
After a few hours I pull them out of the pan and cut them on a cutting board. *I spray a bread knife with Wilton spray to cut a perfectly smooth line.
